Musical Offerings: What’s On in Manchester this November



There’s nothing better than finishing work at 5pm and heading out into the bright lights of the city to watch your favourite band play live on stage. With so many venues, offering a multitude of shows from varying genres, Manchester is hard to beat with its music scene. Whatever your genre of choice, you’ll be sure to find a gig that is both appealing and thoroughly enjoyable.




If you don’t have to be at work the following day, why not stay over in the city? Look for hotels in Manchester city centre so that you don’t have to travel too far, and take advantage of online deals to keep the cost as low as possible.

November is shaping up to be an excellent month for musical offerings. Here are ten of the best.

1. Muse – 1.11.12 – Manchester Arena
Epic Brit rockers return for another sell out arena tour, showcasing some of their recent and old blinding tunes. It’s amazing just how much noise comes out of this trio, with their crisp lines and perfect rhythms; their stage presence is electric and should be seen at least once during their successful career.



2. Nicky Minaj – 2.11.12 – Manchester Arena
Trinidadian-born American rapper, Nicky Minaj has proved to be an expert in her field. Since her inception with the 2010 debut album, Pink Friday, she has gone from strength to strength – evident  through this worldwide arena tour.

3. Sabaton – 3.11.12 – HMV Ritz
Swedish power metal band, Sabaton, will return for another craic in support of their new album ‘Carolus Rex’; playing their distinctive sounds to power metal fans. With support from Eluvietie.

4. Sonic Boom Six – 4.11.12 – Academy 3
Homegrown talent, Sonic Boom Six, return to their city of origin to play to their local fans. Fusing metal, punk, grime and ska sounds to make one almighty hybrid, SB6 will be touring to support their self-titled album release.



5. Tom McRae – 4.11.12 – The Deaf Institute
If you’re after a little more sombre affair, be sure to check out Mr McRae. Now on his sixth studio album, this talented acoustic guitarist will surely provide an evening of artistic talent and breathtaking sounds.

6. The Road to Warped Tour – 5.11.12 – Academy 
Definitely one for the pop punk rockers out there; Less than Jake, Man Overboard and New Found Glory will join together to provide their audience with plenty of upbeat and catchy sounds to keep you moshing and bouncing all night.

7. Motorhead – 6.11.12 – O2 Apollo
Classic rockers, Motorhead, return for their  latest tour. Catch their set and sing along to their riff-tastic tunes, including the ever-popular ‘Ace of Spades’

8. Steel Panther – 10.11.12 – O2 Apollo
With an enviable stage performance and overly exaggerated personalities, Steel Panther continue to bring glam to the metal genre.

9. Lionel Richie – 11.11.12 – Manchester Arena
Ageing crooner, Lionel Richie, continues to entertain fans worldwide with his soul and RnB sounds.

10. Jools Holland – 17.11.12 – O2 Apollo
With help from his rhythm and blues orchestra, the legendary Jools Holland will play some of his best known works combining boogie woogie, jazz and blues sounds.
