Things to do in Dubai : At The Top Burj Khalifa Experience

"Do you still have energy for a sunrise view of Dubai?," my cousin asked knowing that my flight the night before is arriving around 10 in the evening, and I might be a bit jet lagged.

"Of course!" I replied without batting an eyelash.

So after picking me up at the airport, driving around Jumeira road, having Chinese shabu shabu for dinner, we finally made it home by 2 am.

Our alarms went off two and a half hours later, and we were up and about to head to Dubai Mall to witness the sunrise at the top of Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building.

The kabayan (that's what they call fellow Filipinos in Dubai) staff we talked to revealed that they only open "sunrise viewing" during winter time so my timing was perfect.

We were the first in line, and another crew proudly announced that it only takes one minute to reach the 124th floor.

The sky was still dark but the lights of the city gave us a glowing view of Dubai.

We patiently waited for that first ray of light together with other sunrise enthusiasts.

The moment the sun peeked from its hiding, the crowd gathered on one side of the viewing deck.

It was an amazing sight to see how the clouds gracefully moved like smoke rising just below our view. Little by little, the clouds slowly covered our view of Dubai, while the sun also rose magnificently above it.

We lingered for a while hoping that the clouds would be lifted. But it just stayed there, blocking Dubai from the newly arrived viewers.

There was no time limit, so we stayed and enjoyed Dubai at the top for an  entire two hours.
