Museums Quartier: Cheap Hang Out in Vienna

Got a day to spare in Vienna? Into arts and museums?

Then MuseumsQuartier Wien is for you.

Museums Quartier is a clustered community of art museums and contemporary art exhibitions. As the name suggests, it's mainly composed of buildings, showcasing Vienna's architecture, dance, culture, music, theater, and fashion scene. Alright, it's not totally free. In most cases, if you want to get in to a particular museum, you have to pay a fee ranging between €7-16, except for quartier21, which charges only €3.

If you're tired of the museums already, the quarter is also dotted with a lot of coffee shops. Have a cup of melange, and access wifi.

If you don't want to pay for wifi, there's an area near the Leopold Museum, where you can access free wifi or wlan (as they call it in Vienna).

Within Museums Quartier, you should find the ubiquitous unconventional shaped lounges scattered all over the place, designed to attract visitors to sit back, relax, and while away the time.

Every summer, they have digital screenings at the courtyard, free admission. And in the section for kids, there's a sandbox in a willow hut.

To go there: Take the U-Bahn, get off at Volkstheater station.

Nearby, there's also a pretty garden called Volksgarten. If you're tired of the buildings, and need something green to look at, then this is the perfect place for you.
