Batanes: Why DDD Habitat Was Our Lodge of Choice

With the booming tourism industry in Batanes, a number of lodges have sprouted to accommodate more visitors. A recent addition would be DDD Habitat.

While looking through all the other options in the internet, this one is fairly new.

They were also the only one that advertised having wi-fi. One drawback was the toilet. We have read good reviews, save for the most important thing for my sister: she cannot use a common bath. Most of the rooms have been designed this way, except for one: Siayan Room. After calling Noemi, she can only give us Sabtang Room, which has a toilet outside, but exclusive to Sabtang users.

We agreed in resignation.

God must have highly favored us because when we arrived, Siayan was vacant! It became our home for 5 days.

with our own bathroom.

Why do I love thee? Let me count the ways:

1. They have wi-fi. But did I tell you that the router is inside our room?

2. Their rooftop offers an amazing view of Basco Lighthouse, which in fact, is walkable from the lodge.

3. As backpackers, it was important for us to cook our food to save on some money. They have complete kitchen facilities and we contributed a minimal fee for the use of gas and their utensils.

4. The location is ideal. They are perpendicular to the main drag, which is Abad St., where most of the shops are located--internet shops, market, souvenir shops. Now, I know the google map looks confusing. The Abad St highlighted in yellow is the main drag. The Abad St where the pink dot actually is, is Lopez or Llopes Street, where DDD is located.

Pink dot is where DDD is

5. The location is walking distance from the airport. When we arrived, Ate Monica hailed a tricycle to take us to the lodge, while she walked! So the day we left, we decided to walk to the airport. It didn't take us more than 10 minutes to get there.

BONUS:
Arriving from Manila, Ate Monica was already waiting for us with my name on a placard. It was a first for me! Sweet.

Ate Monica warmly greeted us at the airport
